Veritam Apples
An apple a day keeps the hangover away!
Veritam apples are a hallmark of their namesake city, prized as much for their beauty as for their versatility. These modest, soft-barked trees produce clusters of small apples that begin to glow faintly at dusk - never bright enough to light a path, but enough to turn an orchard into a dreamy sea of floating lanterns. This crop is now grown all across Atalav, its' iconic glowing orchard strongest near God-trees.
The glow comes from trace levels of Lifesource X naturally occurring in the fruit. Interestingly, it doesn’t strengthen magical abilities in Faunids, but it does enhance clarity during meditation and dreaming. Because of this, Veritam apple products are often used in mild spiritual practices and dreamwork.
The apples have a tart-sweet bite, often eaten raw or added to travel breads for energy and alertness. When dried, the glow fades, but the flavor concentrates—dried Veritams are used in ceremonial teas and winter rations.
